The beginning

Alternative Freight Services (AFS) was established in 1994. The founder and Managing Director - Mr Tony Bates saw a niche in the market after working with the multi nationals for a period of time. He saw the need for personalised customer service in the industry. Through dedication and hard work Tony has built a solid business which employs some 50 plus personnel.

Tony’s eagerness to strive for excellence has had AFS being recognised by the ‘Australian Achievers Awards’ and in fact won the Customer Service Excellence award in 2005, with having highly commended scoring in previous years.


 

Who we are

Customer focused and results driven the services and benefits provided by Alternative Freight Services are designed to add genuine value to the customer for the duration of our business association. Many of our clients have been with us since our inception and see Alternative Freight Services as a normal extension to their business.

Freight management is complicated, not because it has to be but because many factors and parties contribute to its complexity. Alternative Freight Services like to think that a simple solution which is based on service quality and cost effectiveness is normal. Our success is aligned with identifying the best provider for your service needs, delivering solutions and adding value.

Our Mission Statement is indicative of what we strive for, "to provide our clients with more than simply freight management advice. We are committed to assisting in the implementation of our recommendations so that what is planned is delivered and performs to expectations".

To facilitate this, we employ skilled individuals that have many years experience, who not only develop a relationship with our clients but get to understand their key business drivers and long term objectives. The solutions that are derived today can be built upon for the needs of tomorrow due to this business understanding.
